Festool.

The word just grabs a craftsman’s attention. It implies unimpeachable quality – a marriage of great engineering and artful problem solving. When it comes to the jobsite, Festool’s ENTIRE product line is all about portability – from creative storage, mobility and organization to the world’s most thoughtful tools. The magic of Festool is in the details: everything comes together as a system, and makes working on site as comfortable – and as productive – as working back in the shop.

Take, for example, the TS 55 REQ. To compare it to a traditional circular saw is to compare a tiger to a house cat. With its accuracy and versatility, a better comparison would be to the most advanced table, miter or panel saw available. Unbelievably easy to use, when used with Festool’s guide rails, it delivers perfectly straight and splinter-free cuts in the shop, as well as on site. With micro-adjustable depth controls and a flat housing for flush cuts against walls or adjacent surfaces, this is the company’s most advanced plunge cut saw ever, which is saying a lot. It even has a spring-loaded riving knife – yes, on a ‘circular’ saw! And blade changes on the jobsite are exceptionally easy and safe with the FastFix system, which locks the switch and arbor simultaneously.

The same level of thought goes into every Festool portable power tool, from sanders to drills, jigsaws, miter saws, multi-tools, planers and routers. The company even made mortise and tenon joinery portable with the introduction of the Domino joiner, which quickly became the industry standard. Even edge banding is no longer a reason to return to the shop, ever since the Conturo handheld bander arrived. Now an installer can trim a door or a case part and band the cut edge on the jobsite with perfect results every time.

When it comes to moving tools or hardware to the jobsite, Festool has developed an ingenious system solution: each of Festool’s tools comes in a Systainer, a rugged, flexible, and convenient storage case that provides a means of storing, carrying, and combining tools and accessories. Designed to seamlessly connect to one another and to Festool CT HEPA Dust Extractors, which are designed with large wheels and a low center of gravity, this system allows you to move the CT and the tools attached to it effortlessly around the jobsite. Festool’s CT HEPA Dust Extractor and Systainer system make it possible to configure highly mobile, job-specific kits, keeping you organized and working efficiently.

Festool also offers Sortainers. These are actually Systainers with 3, 4, 6, 9 and 12-drawer configurations. Further extending mobility and functionality are other Systainer types, such as the SYS-MFT Tabletop Systainer, which performs like a mobile benchtop, to the SYS-Toolbox, an open tool storage container. When using this system of Festool’s, the result is a completely mobile, rolling job kit.

Previously mentioned, are Festool CT HEPA Dust Extractors, which keep everything clean and dust free on the jobsite. CTs have tool-triggered auto start functionality so that when you plug your tool into the supplied outlet socket, the vacuum cycles with the tool. They come in several sizes, from the 2.6 gal. CT MINI HEPA to the 12.7 gal. CT 48 HEPA.

In late Spring, Festool is introducing the new CT SYS dust collector. With a self-contained hose and cord storage, plus onboard tools and low sound (67 dB), the portable and powerful CT SYS can be integrated to stack and pack with Systainers or can easily be carried by the handle or provided shoulder strap. The CT SYS is ideal for casework installers, trim carpenters, and others who need the utmost in portability, yet without compromise in function.
